I know a family of Americans who have lived in Moscow for many years. I was told their favorite place in this city was always the Novodevichy Convent, quiet, full of history and outstanding architecture.

I visited the Novodevichy Convent several years ago and was awed by the huge old oak trees there. Do you have any information about them – their age, or when planted, trunk diameter, etc.?

Jim, I suppose, you mean oaks in Kolomenskoe. They are approx 400 years old, trunk diameters reach 120-160 cm. As for the Novodevichy convent, I don’t know oaks there.
