Question from Michelle:
Olga, if you would be kind to answer my question, I will be arriving via Domedovo (Moscow ) airport heading towards Kremlin and Im planning to take the aeroroport express train. Please guide me how.
1. Take the aeroexpress from Domodedovo airport to Paveletsky railway terminal.
2. When you arrive to Moscow almost all the people from aeroexpress will go in the same direction – to the metro, just follow them. The entrance to the metro station Paveletskaya (radial, green line) is located in the train terminal.
Question: I will be staying in St Petersburg and wish to visit Moscow for the day. Which train station will I arrive at in Moscow and how far [if walking distance] to the Red Square / tourist attractions. I have been looking online but am getting confused as I think there is more than one main train station in Moscow.
John: I need to get to Northern River Boat Station Leningradsky Prospekt, Khimki . What is the travel time difference if I come into Domodedovo International Airport or into Sheremetyevo International Airport ?
Sheremetyevo is preferable. By taxi it will take not more than 30-40 min. There are dispatchers at the airport. Negotiate a fixed fare before you board the taxi. Besides, you can take a bus #851 (or minibus #949) to the Metro station Rechnoy vokzal. How to get from the metro to Boat Station is described here:
I was asked by Judith:
Olga, I have searched online about the observation platform and Vorobyovy Gory and I am quite confused . Are these two the same one, the one near MSU? And may I know will there be any entry fee? Which one of two will you recommend if they are different?
Thanks a lot.
P.S. Your information provided are really really useful, especially the one about Kremlin^.^
Yes, the observation platform near MSU and that one on Vorobyovy Gory are the same place.
http://askmoscow.com/2010/12/viewpoint-1/ Here I gave an instruction how to get there:
http://askmoscow.com/2013/02/from-the-metro-to-the-observation-platform/ There is no any entry fee! Recently there was opened a new Moscow viewing desk at the top of Central Children’s store “Detsky mir” on Lubyanka square: http://opposto.livejournal.com/357751.html No entry fee as well! Thanks for your P.S. 🙂
This post will explain you how to get from the Moscow Kremlin to the Kievsky terminal or precisely to Vnukovo (VKO) aeroexpress terminal.
Let us start from the Russian state library. We have seen the Kremlin museums, from the central part of Alexander gardens entered the underpass, passed it to the end and once outside looked at F. Dostoevsky monument on the left. Now, please, follow my arrows.
We need to enter the metro station Arbatskaya.
I was asked by Sophie:
Olga, the Viking cruise will be docked at the Moscow Northern River Boat Station, Leningradsky Prospekt, Khimki. Do you know how long will it take to get to the Armory if we take the subway? We heard there is a subway, but not sure where it is. Will appreciate any help you can give us.
It will take you about 20 minutes walk from the pier to the metro station Rechnoy vokzal and 25 minutes by the green metro line to the station Teatralnaya, which is located in the city centre.
Your route from the river boat terminal to the metro station Rechnoy vokzal:
Independent travelers sometimes complain that it is difficult to find the entrance to the Kremlin museums. It’s quite easy.
The main entrance is through the Kutafya tower.
1. First of all, please, do not try to enter the Kremlin from Red square. It is useless and even unsafe if you insist.
2. Look at the map. There are two entrances for us (shown by red arrows), both are located on the side of Alexandrovsky gardens (Alexandrovsky Sad in Russian). The main one is through the Kutafya tower (1). To visit the Armoury chamber and the Diamond Fund go to the end of the Gardens along the Kremlin wall to the Borovitskaya Tower (2).
